The extensive canal system running through Golden Gate Estates generates unique enforcement challenges. FWC and CCSO monitor the waterways for illegal dumping and trespassing. The massive size of the Estates means response times for non-emergency calls can be extended. CCSO utilizes specialized off-road vehicles to patrol the undeveloped portions of the eastern estates bordering the Picayune Strand State Forest.
