Brandon is an unincorporated community in eastern Hillsborough County with over 115,000 residents. There is no city government or police department. The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office (HCSO) provides all law enforcement through its District IV station at 508 Vonderburg Drive. All arrests book at either the Falkenburg Road or Orient Road jail in Tampa.
The Westfield Brandon Mall area along SR-60 (Brandon Boulevard) is the commercial center of the community. Retail theft, DUI, and traffic offenses are concentrated along this corridor and at the mall. HCSO maintains heavy patrol presence on SR-60 from I-75 to Providence Road. All Hillsborough cases are heard at the downtown Tampa courthouse.
HCSO's District IV covers Brandon, Riverview, Valrico, and surrounding areas. The district station at 508 Vonderburg Drive is the primary administrative hub. HCSO deploys dedicated traffic enforcement units along SR-60, Bloomingdale Avenue, and Lithia-Pinecrest Road. Brandon has one of the highest call volumes in the HCSO system due to its dense population and commercial activity.
The Brandon Regional Hospital area sees emergency room-related incidents that occasionally result in arrests for assault, disorderly conduct, and trespassing. Baker Act evaluations may also originate here. The Causeway Boulevard corridor connecting Brandon to Tampa via the Crosstown Expressway sees concentrated DUI enforcement during evening hours.
Brandon borders Valrico to the east and Lithia to the southeast. All three communities are unincorporated Hillsborough County served by HCSO. The boundaries between them are blurry, and arrests in the border areas all process through the same Tampa jail system. If someone says they were arrested in Brandon but the report says Valrico, it makes no difference for the bail process.
